SACRED BOVINE!! Has it been THAT long?!?! I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve written. Wow. Sorry!
Lots happening, and of course all good, in the VO industry. Purchased Marc Scott’s Voiceover Marketing Playbook and going through that. Going through Marc Cashman’s “V-Oh!” book. Preparing for VO Atlanta. Running my multimedia business at the same time. Phasing out a church (sniff sniff). Lots of crazy and cool and wild stuff happening simultaneously! (Or as the Brits say, “simultaneously!” Get it?)
Anyhoo…if you follow this blog, sorry I’ve been away. *shakes off the dust*
What’s new? Well, lots of new marketing stuff. New approaches. Rethinking where I put my time and money and of course my effort. There are SO many ways to make some good money in voiceovers. So many places to find work! The newest find? Craigslist! I found a search page that will search ALL of Craigslist and I pull up the pages at regular intervals and check out any available jobs. Tried the RSS feeds and that didn’t work so well, pobre sito. So I just manually do it for now. But it’s all good and doesn’t take me very long to do. It is one more marketing approach. and as I’m learning, I need to check with 20-50 new sources every single day and try to get my name out there and get my larynx in the door. 🙂 I tried my foot, but you don’t want to smell that on the air. Plus, I have a face for radio. Har har har.
But I’m as determined as ever to really get myself out there and get people in my pipeline. Gotta keep greasing that wheel until it’s so automated that I can sneeze, and new clients would show up. Although it’s weird when they hide in my nose like that.
Still doing Meetups, still keeping active with local circles and local VO peeps, still still still…… Having fun doing it too! Need to resume coaching with my good friend Scott Burns. All things in due time. Right now I’m really focused on marketing though.
LinkedIn…not sure I’m doing it right…lots of contacts on LinkedIn but little fruit, and that’s not good. I need to work smarter, not harder. I need to make sure I’m putting my efforts into the best channels that I can, and doing it smartly so that I’m not burning out on the marketing side of things. Also looking for a marketing guy to help bring business to me passively, rather than my always actively seeking it out. We’ll see what we can find. Maybe I’ll call him up and whooooooooooo him with a milk chocolatey voice or something. Hey, worth a shot.
Our church of 39 years is closing out, so that’s a bummer…so we’re all scattering, but hopefully all of us going through such a diaspora will help spread the word about what I do, and get me into even more circles until my plan of world domination is com-pleeeeeeete!!! Moo-oo-ah-ah-ah!!!!
